Finding Love in New York City (Michaela Dalzell)

No one said love comes easily – especially in New York City. Photographer Michaela Dalzell learned that the hard way. She moved to New York City to get a Masters in Digital Photography at the School of Visual Arts, with hopes of eventually becoming a commercial photographer. Thankfully, Dalzell’s desire to understand the people of her new home took her in a different direction.

“I came here searching for my career. I kind of thought all New Yorkers were here, and they were just working. I didn’t think it was possible …

Dark Zoo (Nicolas Evariste)

It has been a while since an artist has left me speechless, but Nicolas Evariste has done just that. Based in Normandy, France, this 23-year-old has mastered the art of animal imagery like no other photographer I have seen thus far. I discovered Evariste this morning, and haven’t been able to close my browser since. There is just an air of mystery to each of his images, the kind that leaves one wondering how he could have possibly captured it. A Man of Many Fairy Tales, Fruits and Faces (Joshua Yospyn)

A few days ago, pigs were flying. Today, it’s tortoises. And if it weren’t for the work of Joshua Yospyn, we’d never even know it. Yospyn is a Washington, D.C. based photographer, who is entirely self-taught. Fresh and full of character, his work bears heavy influences from artists such as Nuno de Campos, Annie Leibovitz, and Richard Avedon. While Yospyn’s primary focus is portraiture, it is his incredibly amusing side projects that ultimately caught my eye. Check these pieces out, for example. I think that they are pretty fabulous!

Thinking Outside the [Cardboard] Box (Berni Valenta)

Forget thinking outside the box – Berni Valenta makes art with the actual box. The Munich-based artist just closed an exhibit featuring 100 pieces of cardboard box art. It is such a shame that I just found out about it. I am always amazed when artists take everyday objects – and rather drab ones at that – and transform them into something spectacular. Check this out. You won’t be disappointed!

Valenta’s cardboard box pieces of art feature caricatures that range from monkey gangsters to nerdy sports fanatics. This man sure can pack …

Holi Moly That’s Beautiful (Poras Chaudhary)

If you have seen the movie Slumdog Millionaire, then you are probably familiar with the vibrant colors of India. Though much of India is desolate and impoverished, there is a subtle beauty about the country that is truly undeniable. Though I have yet to visit India, I imagine bustling streets filled of rich scents and ornate attire. At least that is the kind of picture that Poras Chaudhary paints about the place.
Poras Chaudhary is an Indian freelance photojournalist and documentary photographer. He is entirely self-taught, and primarily known for his highly saturated …
