Thinking Outside the [Cardboard] Box (Berni Valenta)

Forget thinking outside the box – Berni Valenta makes art with the actual box. The Munich-based artist just closed an exhibit featuring 100 pieces of cardboard box art. It is such a shame that I just found out about it. I am always amazed when artists take everyday objects – and rather drab ones at that – and transform them into something spectacular. True Sketch Comedy (Demetri Martin)

A few weeks ago, an observant friend introduced me to Demetri Martin, an endearing humorist, who takes sketch comedy to a new and unexpected level. An unconventional performer, Martin has paved his way to the forefront of an emerging nerd comedy movement. Though he is widely praised for his extensive wordplay and dry one-liners, he is most notorious for his use of obscure props– a large sketch pad on which he showcases rudimentary drawings, to be exact.
